I am a lawyer transplanted from San Diego to the Pacific Northwest. Although the law provides plenty of opportunities for creative writing, it's not as much fun as you might think. A lifelong avocation in comparative religion, literature, linguistics, particle physics, cosmology and history and science of all kinds drives my real creative writing, fiction and non-fiction.

 

I've been a musician in a Celtic Band, been to Burning Man twice, performed as a spoken word artist the poetry of Robert Burns, Yeats and others. I can sing the Irish National Anthem in Irish Gaelic. Oh, and I achieved one of my youthful goals of going home with the girl singer, my wife Ruby Devine. We have four adult children and ten grandchildren. We were chairmen of the Spokane Highland Games for three years. I've served on the board of the Spokane - Limerick (Ireland) Sister City Association. I am also a member and director of one of the oldest and largest Rotary Clubs in the world.

 

I received a BA in Communications, with minors in Sociology and Visual Arts, from UCSD, Paralegal Training at the University of San Diego, Law Degree from Gonzaga University and Intensive Mediation Seminars at Pepperdine University. I grew up on hard science fiction, James Blish, Arthur C. Clark, C. J. Cherryh, but wandered widely, Tolstoy, Proust, Joyce, Rilke, Pynchon and more.

 

And then there's Charlotte, a friend of mine who died too young. She gave me the inspiration to write her true story imbedded in a richly imagined world.
