A SMALL GODDESS

EXCERPT

 

One day a goddess came to earth and,

Holding up my fingers to frame the shot,

My life and longing compressed into

That, Small, Moment.

 

And what could she know of it?

That I had safely desired her from afar?

That I never meant to catch her?

That I had no idea what I had caught?

 

I mean, a boy must have his goddess,

But what of requited love?

What of the alien other suddenly

Manifesting and saying “I am for you.”?
